Squamish Summer Farmers' Market - September 23rd, 2017
Hello Squamish Farmers’ Market Subscribers,
Fall is officially here! Come celebrate with us at the Farmers’ Market and stay toasty with warm comfort foods, ooey gooey baked goods and hot, delicious coffee. While you’re there, don’t forget to stock up on locally grown fruits, veggies, eggs and meat! Our artisans will be out in full force too! This week, a very talented local mama Aislinn Cormier will be joining us with her handcrafted woodworking creations. Mountain Girl Creations will be sharing her unique and highly-coveted shelving, racks and tables – don’t miss it, this will be her last visit with us this season!
Missing a little movement in your life? Come down and check out musical duo Pancho and Sal’s Rio Samaya Band. Their Spanish, Latin, World and original music is sure to conjure up a hip swing or two with their colourful performance. On your way out, don’t forget to stop-in next door to Junction Park where you can still catch some eye candy with the Squamish Art Walk.
With Fall in the air, this is a time of year to give thanks and appreciate the hardworking farmers who bring us fresh, local food at farmers' markets across the province. September is also a busy time of year with back to school, and we want to remind you that farmers' market season is not over yet! Want a chance to win one of two $100 farmers' market shopping trips? All you have to do is take a picture!

On September 12th, the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets (BCAFM) launched a new online fundraising platform and campaign to provide fresh local food to thousands of British Columbians facing economic barriers or a lack of grocery stores, while directly supporting local farmers across BC. The BCAFM has set up a new donor fund in collaboration with Vancity Community Foundation. Individuals, local businesses, sports teams and other organizations can now donate directly to the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Program (FMNCP) and be eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
Each $20 charitable donation supports a family, individual or senior to buy fresh local food from their farmers’ market one time. A charitable donation of $320 will support a family, individual or senior for the entire summer farmers’ market season, from June to October. To donate, or learn more about the program, visit bcfarmersmarket.org/donate.
Remember that starting November 4th the Farmers’ Market moves to a cozier location at the Squamish Adventure Centre. Interested in becoming one of our vendors? Our application is now live! Click here to apply.
See you there!
Lots of love,The Squamish Farmers’ Market Association
