Squamish Summer Farmers' Market - October 7th, 2017
Hello Squamish Farmers’ Market Subscribers,
Happy Thanksgiving Day long weekend! Is your Thanksgiving spread missing something? Not to worry, we’ve got you covered! Impress your loved ones and treat them to farm-fresh produce from one of our six farmers this week – Plenty Wild, Laughing Crow Organics, Mandair Farms, Nutrient Dense Farms, Seed to Sky Farm and Snowy Mountain Organics always bring the freshest fruits and veggies! Pick up your turkey and other tasty meats from Stony Mountain Farm, Spray Creek Ranch and Smoke Shack 99 then head over for some delicious drinkables from Gillespie’s Fine Spirits, Persephone Brewing and Fort Berens Estate Winery. Looking for sweet treats? We’ve got hummuses, jams and baked goods galore! Need to spruce up your entertaining space? How about hanging a piece of Squamish on your walls with one of Tim Cyr’s Squamish Wildlife and Scenery photos? All that shopping made you hungry? We’ve got food trucks to satisfy all your cravings, including oh-so-tasty tacos from Flaca’s Tacos!
Now you can have a seat and enjoy your spoils and hot food to the tune of Juno award winner Cam Salay! Cam’s been a professional musician for over 20 years and is sure to jam you into the Thanksgiving Day spirit.
Speaking of thanks, it’s your last chance to say show your appreciation to those hardworking farmers who bring us fresh, local food at farmers' markets across the province. The Love BC Farmers contest ends this weekend! You can win one of two $100 farmers' market shopping trips:
To enter the contest, just to snap and share a photo on Instagram of your favourite:
BC farmer + use the hashtag #LoveBCFarmers, or
BC farmers’ market + use the hashtag #LoveBCFarmersMarkets
The photo description should mention which farmers’ market the photo was taken at, and tag @bcfarmersmarket.
Click here for more details. Contest deadline is Monday, October 9, 2017 (Thanksgiving Day).
You can also still donate to the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets (BCAFM) / Vancity Community Foundation’s Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Program (FMNCP). Individuals, local businesses, sports teams and other organizations can donate directly and be eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
Each $20 charitable donation supports a family, individual or senior to buy fresh local food from their farmers’ market one time. A charitable donation of $320 will support a family, individual or senior for the entire summer farmers’ market season, from June to October. To donate, or learn more about the program, visit bcfarmersmarket.org/donate.
Don’t forget that come November the Farmers’ Market moves to a cozier location at the Squamish Adventure Centre. Interested in becoming one of our vendors? Our application is now live! Click here to apply.
See you there!
Lots of love,
The Squamish Farmers’ Market Association
