Port Coquitlam Farmers Market
Finally, the wait is over. We are about to kickoff the 11th season of the Port Coquitlam Farmers Market. This season will be great with several new and several old faces. This year we are excited to welcome several first time Youth vendors! At the first market we will be introduced to Black Bear Pies, Mmm Meringue and Dandelion Slime. These kids are embodying young entrepreneurial spirits. So, lets give them a round of applause.
Other exciting new face this week include Wild West Coast Seafood supplying us with a variety of BC sustainable fish and seafood. Grab a 4 pack or more of Port Coquitlam beers and ales brewed by Taylight Brewery. If you prefer non-alcoholic beverages to cool you off and is super healthy being packed with probiotic grab a bottle of Water Keifer from Culture Kefir Co. Other newbies to PCFM include Michaela Makes Art, Oyster & King (mushrooms), Bonehead Kitchen (dog treats), and Wild and Reclaimed, an amazing artisan who fashions baby toys, jewelry, hats and home décor all made with materials sourced in nature.
Did we mention this is Opening Day at the Market? The festivities start at 4pm on stage with are annual cake cutting and presentation featuring Acting Mayor Laura Dupont and Councilmen Steve Darling and Glenn Pollack, our sponsors, VanCity and Port Coquitlam BIA. Did I mention cake? We’ll be handing out pieces to everyone at the market.
If the cake doesn’t fill you up come check out something for dinner or just a snack with our concessions, Twisted Creamery, Betty’s Greek Honey Ballz, Mama’s Fish & Chips and Gary’s Kettlecorn. At the General Store we supply lemonade, water and organic coffee which this year is generously provided by Frog Friendly Wild Coffee.
Rounding out the market Barry Wilson is on the performance stage and check out the Kid’s Corner where there is always something fun planned for our younger guests. Be sure to stop by our community group space to visit with local organizations to find out what they do, and how to can get involved. This week stop by and say ‘hi” to Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation, Pot Coquitlam Heritage & Culture Society and The Wilson Seniors Centre.
Welcome back to the market. We are excited to see you!
