There are probably many things you should be doing more...
Good evening Market Subscribers!
As we progress into summer, the market just keeps getting bigger and better! This week we are proud to present nearly 50 vendors! Local musician Dana Marie-Battaglia will be performing from 11am-2pm to keep up the energy, and for the kids, our weekly activity is a pinwheel-making craft with Market Assistant Ashley, running from 12-1:30pm! Perhaps they can even try their hand at our Zero Waste Challenge game!
The market's prepared to provide you with a hearty hot lunch this week! Get your fill from Flaca's Tacos, Hip Pies, or Ace Curries Food Truck! Their food is all so delicious, it can be difficult to choose! Don't forget to get some healthy dessert to take home - Mandair Farms, Rai Produce, and Snowy Mountain Organics will satisfy your sweet tooth with ripe cherries, strawberries, and raspberries!
Attention to all who've been missing her... Alice Savage is back this week, with sauerkrauts galore! And does your little tyke need some new fashions for the summer season? LittleMod is also back to keep them stylish! And check out Lilise, a vendor new to the Squamish Farmers Market! And come get educated by our community booth, Sea to Sky Invasive Species Council!
Other news at the market includes the starting-up of the Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon Program 2018 season. For those who have not heard of this great project, the FMNCP distributes vouchers to members of the community who are in need of fresh, healthy foods, including pregnant women, seniors, and low-income families. These vouchers are redeemable for fresh veggies, eggs, dairy, meat, and nuts at farmers markets around BC! We've also started up a community-wide 50/50 draw that will be taking place each Saturday for the rest of the summer, to raise funds to continue running a great market (and possibly even some funds for yourself...!). Participants must be 19+, and the winner will be drawn at 2pm each Saturday! The Sikh Festival will also be going on downtown Squamish, and I'm pretty sure you can get some great views of the parade across the street from the Squamish Farmers Market (I mean, there's just such a picturesque view of the chief behind us!).
It going to be load of fun at the Squamish Farmers Market this Saturday! So come on down and join us in it! The weather is still going to be warm (25°C), but as there are a chance of showers, bring a raincoat, just in case (first time in a while, huh?).
Can't wait to see you there!
