Hello market go'ers,

Heading into a new season is always excited, but autumn is an especially lovely time of year -when there's often still some sun shining during the day, but you can still put on a cozy flannel and fuzzy socks in the evening! However, as we've been reminded today after a beautful week, it's also the month the famous Squamish rain starts to kick back in. For Saturday, we are forecasted for some showers and 17 degrees. Yet, doesn't cooler weather just make coming in after a fun day at the market esecially cozy? This is especially so when you can throw on that new extra layer such as an upcycled poncho from Re:creation Designs! Need some hot food while you're at the market? Pick up a cup of homemade soup from Ela Made Me Do It, or a pasta from Amo La Vita!  Craving a hearty, warm, comforting meal at the end of the day? Get all the ingredients from the great farmers of the Squamish Farmers Market! Or, try out this week's weekly recipe: Butter Chicken, by Ace Curries to Go! They will be at the market this Saturday with both their food cart as well as their curry stand! You also can't miss the Squamish Hospital Foundation who will be at the market this week only, spreading the word about a fantastic fundraising event they have coming up! Also new this week is Craft Grain, who recycle the grains from breweries to make nutritious crackers! How delicious and clever!

Also happening tomorrow is another great chef demo by Steve Fecho, taking place from 10:30-11:30am, an expert whom you can get some great creative cooking tips where you can also snap up some samples! Then, performing from 12-3pm, is the great Dana-Marie Battaglia

The first week of September is always a busy one, but it's not only a big weekend for the Sea to Sky Corridor because school has started up again, or that the Squamish Farmers Market taking place. In addition to all this excitement, the annual RBC Gran Fondo is also taking place this Saturday! That means it's especially important to plan your trip before making your way down to the corner of Cleveland and Victoria tomorrow morning, as this extraodinary bike race will result in closures and delays from Vancouver to Whistler, including in Squamish. You can find a list of traffc impacts and street closures HERE

It's going to be another fabulous day at the market, and we can't wait to see you there!

Love,

Squamish Farmers Market Association

P.S. In case you're having a hard time shifting into the autumn mindset, here is a short poem to remind you of the great things it has in store!

    September

The breezes taste
Of apple peel.
The air is full
Of smells to feel-
Ripe fruit, old footballs,
Burning brush,
New books, erasers,
Chalk, and such.
The bee, his hive,
Well-honeyed hum,
And Mother cuts
Chrysanthemums.
Like plates washed clean
With suds, the days
Are polished with
A morning haze.
