Squamish Farmers' Market - Saturday, May 25th 2019
Hello Market Lovers!
It's looking to be a good old fashioned spring day this Saturday - a lovely day to be out with your community supporting your local farmers and artisans.
We've got a great farm-team coming this weekend to bring you the freshest of the fresh locally grown foods. The one and only Laughing Crow Organics will be making their first appearance for the summer season - welcome back! They will be there along with Nutrient Dense Farms and Plenty Wild Farm with in-season produce to fill your fridges. Spray Creek Ranch will be offering certified organic grass-fed meats and our very own "egg lady" from Stony Mountain Farm will be there with her happily laid eggs.
We are excited to announce a couple of new vendors for you this weekend: Art on Leather offers artisan leather accessories, hand-made in Squamish. Pieces are hand-cut, designs are hand-burned (a process called pyrography), each piece is individually dyed, polished with beeswax balm and signed. The designs are inspired by the West Coastal Nature. Look for everything from belts, guitar straps, leather cuffs and wallets. You can also find some unique adornments by Rock the Feather from Whistler. Rock The Feather creates handcrafted, one of a kind feather earrings, feather hair clips, feather necklaces and provides the ever popular feather hair extension installations!
Don't forget to stop by Upland Agricultural Society's table - they will be providing information about the Squamish Valley Agricultural Plan which they have been working on in conjunction with District of Squamish, Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, and the Squamish Food Policy Council.
We'll also be hosting incredible vendors offering jams, sweet treats like the ever-popular snow cones, mini donuts and maple syrup, tacos, east-Indian food, waffles, breads, plants, clothing, accessories and many more!
You'll want to get to market early to ensure you don't miss out on any of the vendors' labours of love, but also to check out the chef demo by the amazing Paul Natrall of Mr. Bannock. He is a second generation chef from the Squamish Nation and a culinary graduate from Vancouver Community College. He took the Aboriginal Specialty 12 month course in 2009-2010 and was 1 of 3 people who successfully completed the program. He has worked in various restaurants before starting his catering company Mr Bannock Factory in 2017 and then launching Mr Bannock food truck in 2018. Watch him use his talents to create an indigenous-inspired delicious and nutritious meal using market ingredients from 10-12 in the What's at the Market tent!
For the kids we will be creating little lady bugs by painting rocks brought by you or foraged from around market grounds. To seranade us throught the market day, we have brought in a treat for you! Miss Rachel Lewis will be on stage with her musical talents from 12-3!
It's going to be a great day - we'll see you at market!
Your loving Squamish Farmers' Market
