Hello Market Lovers!

How is it the August long weekend already?! Time flies when you've been enjoying an awesome market season! With Squamish Days on the horizon and the long weekend in full swing, the downtown core will be abuzz with celebratory community members so be sure to get down to market early to get your pick of your favourite market items.

We're rocking a supreme farm team for you this weekend! For the best of the best in-season veggies you have your pick of Plenty Wild Farm, Nutrient Dense Farms and Laughing Crow Organics. You can find meat and eggs from happy animals at Stony Montain Farm and Spray Creek Ranch and the freshest of fruits from Mandair Farms, Snowy Mountain Organics, Hare's Organic Blueberry Farm and Rai Produce.

We'll also be debuting a new addition to our farm family this weekend. Meet Lariviere Farm! Lariviere grows certified organic garlic in the beautiful valley of Coldstream, B.C. They use a healthy soil biology approach in all aspects of their farm. The health of their soil is their number one priority. A healthy terrain produces a healthy crop and they know you can taste the quality in Lariviere produce.

As you may know, Squamish Days will be hosting their kids festival next door in Junction Park starting at 9:30. In honour of this, we are bringing in a very special treat for you. Our musicians this week are the very lovely Stephen Vogler AND (drumroll please...) a boy with incredible talent at only 11 years of age, say hello to Mr. Von Derrick! Von is a "lefty” who picked up a guitar at aged 8 and everyone saw fireworks. When he was still just 8 years old he brought the house down at his first performance at his school talent show with his amazing rendition of “Bad to the Bone”. The very next spring he ticked off a “bucket list” item by busking in NYC’s times square to an awed a crowd of on-lookers. He has played solo and along with other artists live at “Amped in the park”. Von regularly studies guitar, piano and voice of all genres. Over the last few years he loves to learn challenging songs both on piano and guitar and is constantly seeking opportunities to perform live and hone his craft. This summer Von is busking for charity, with all proceeds going to Squamish Helping Hands. How cool is that?! Von will be playing during the 12:40 break of Stephen Vogler. Stephen is also a songwriter and musician who performs both solo and with bands Some Assembly Required and The Hounds of Buskerville. His styles of music range from ska, reggae and gypsy jazz, to roots, blues and R&B. Stephen hosts a monthly arts showcase called Creative 5 Eclectic, and is the founder of The Point Artist-Run Centre in Whistler.

Amidst the fun, we'll also of course have our own fun for the kiddies making egg carton owls in the kids tent, right next to the music! Come join in the crafting or drop your little off while you peruse the market.

We're looking forward to this long weekend!

See you at market!
