Squamish Farmers' Market - Saturday September 28th, 2019
Hello Market Lovers!
Fall is here and what a lovely start to the season with a crisp, sunny autumn day on the market rise. We have a great market planned this weekend and we're excited you'll be there to join us. We're getting into the time for comfort foods - stews, warm casseroles, hearty slow-cooked dishes. What better place to get your ingredients than at the Squamish Farmers' Market?
If your meals are meat-based, we have the perfect vendor for you. Spray Creek Ranch is a certified organic, diversified farm producing primarily pastured meats. Their farming philosophy is rooted in several schools of thought within regenerative agriculture. They use tools from management intensive grazing, holistic management, permaculture, ecology and more to ensure their farming creates healthy land and healthy people. Spray Creek raises certified organic beef cattle, pigs, meat chickens and laying hens on pasture as part of an integrated and regenerative agroecological system. They also operate a growing on-farm abattoir and meat shop, and are moving toward slaughtering all their livestock on the farm.
Once you have your base, make your way to the rest of our farm team for to complete your meal! This week we will be hosting Laughing Crow Organics, Plenty Wild Farms and Nutrient Dense Farms for the best of the best in-season vegetables. Crisp autumn orchard founds can be found at Snowy Mountain Organics and for eggs laid by happy hens (and to pre-order your Thanksgiving turkey!) go see Stony Mountain Farm.
Speaking of comfort, we have brought back a couple of Squamish favourites to entertain you this market. Our chef demonstration this weekend will be given by the ever-entertaining and incredibly gifted in the culinary arts, Mr. Steve Fecho. Steve will be creating a delicious and nutritious meal from ingredients found at market from 10-12. After that, stick around for a dance or two by the Juno award winning Cam Salay! As a professional musician since 1994, Cam knows a thing or two about musical entertainment. You'll find him jamming out on his banjo or guitar in the music tent from 12-3.
We're looking forward to this beautiful market day! See you there!
Your loving Squamish Farmers' Market
